WI: Constitution Convention Fails

What if the Constitution Convention fails? Sorry if this is resurrecting an older thread, but search isn't exactly friendly, and necros aren't a good idea.

But what if it failed? How? I don't know, perhaps no Connecticut Compromise, or the states hear about it, calling their members back.

So what would've happened? Would the US have collapsed into several different countries? Or would the Articles of Confederation somehow limp along for awhile?

Most of all, what would the North American continent look like by the year 2000? Very curious about this one, to say the least.

Wouldn't they not be able to gain traction at all though with the restrictions? Additionally, another year may just kill the United States being a single entity, judging by some things going on at the time.
