WI/AHC: Huey Long Presidency

Yes!

As the title explains..

What is the repercussions of a Long Presidency, who would be his running mate, and also, how realistically it could happen, and how early/late it could happen?

Thank you...

You need to remove FDR and the New Deal from the picture somehow. The Zangara assassination succeeding could be one way, and then Garner could completely botch the handling of the Great Depression and might even worsen it by imposing a sales tax and implementing total austerity. Long could make his first run in 1936 against both Garner and Curtis, and split the Democrat vote so Curtis wins, then if Curtis fails to end the Depression Long can run against him and win in 1940.

You also need to prevent his assassination of course, and ensure he isn’t imprisoned for corruption.

Alternatively Long successfully primaries Garner in 1936 and wins on the Democrat ticket.

I kinda disagree on the New Deal part. I kinda felt Long's triumph is actually being a challenger to such matter.

But then, does Long's victory is entirely depended on the Depression's outcome?
One Long isn't enough! His brother needs to also reach the presidency!
Is it THAT inevitable? Especially when considering the current findings Long never truly wanted to become a President is something.

Exactly, HOW.
