US annexing Mindanao?

I have read from a 1993 almanac here in the Philippines that the Muslims actually wanted to be annexed by the Americans, and supposedly, one US legislator actually written a law about it. It is just the protests from the Commonwealth government that this didn't pass.

So, what are the chances that this might actually happen?

Besides that, how will the butterflies affect TTL?

Mindanao is far worse than getting Luzon or visayas. The Americans will barely get anything and will get additional constant problems.

The problem with the Moros or the Muslims in Mindanao is they demanded special treatment right off the bat after the Moro wars wherein Moro crimes are not persecuted with the same law as ordinary citizens but sharia law.

If Muslims in Mindanao want acceptance from the Americans, they should expect equal treatment like any other American not demand special privileges.

Sharia law doesn't base from us civil law nor us constitution. There is also an issue of equality. Moros will be treated with sharia law while all other americans Christian, Muslim, Jew, pagan, etc. will be treated by us civil law federal/state.

Meaning that Moros want to be Americans but don't want to be treated like Americans.

Judges/procedures on Sharia law base their decision on religious interpretations from religious scholars, manuscripts or fatwa rather than the Us constitution or US civil law.
