Things are already very bad, and now they’re only about to get worse. Great chapter as always Kaiser but good lord this US is fucked.
I think the whole Second American Civil War trope has been overdone. Here is my idea, with an industrialized Reich, a growing Russia, UK and the US economies there is a lot of demand for imported oil. Now for a while the Pact, the US and Britain could product some its own oil or import it from neighbors, but the cheapest and most available oil comes from the Middle East. All it takes is one major conflict to interrupt that flow to double or triple prices. This would be a hard blow to a healthy economy, to an ill economy like the Reich, the US or UK it hit much harder. Couple this with already high inflation in places and you will see protests over rapidly rising prices. Some government try to ration or set prices, which only creates black and gray markets.
Now someone like Smith may try to frame this as a 'Time of Testing' and try to suppress the Opposition through a variety of means, but people may be tired of this and vote in such numbers they cannot be ignored. Smith and some governors may call in troops to restore order and find out that they are not moving.
I'm still not sold on the "2nd Civil War completely takes out America". Call me an optimist, but with 20-30% Inflation Per Year, I don't see the Populists... having popular support. Huh, Ironic.

The Third Reich is probably going to tear itself apart in the conflict between Kiara and Remer, the Russian Empire is going to war with China (they both have nukes btw), and Mountbatten is going to be killed by a Nigerian nationalist, destroying the whole system he implemented. If you ask me, the main issue here is that there is not a nation in the world that can be benefit from the power vacuum created by the USA because their own internal conflicts cancel every geopolitical advantage they could possibly have. Nations on The Iron Eagle are so unstable that they can't simply hold a consistent foreign policy, since they spend most of the time trying to fix their own mess caused by prior wars. Also, on top of having weak economies, autarchy being the norm means none of these nations can economically dominate the other, meaning the world is esentially going to become a geopolitical Wild West with no rules.
I would agree if not the title hinting at an apocalyptic fall

That was one of 5 events of which only one is a lie, but with the reveal of Long only having 2-3 years to live due to lung cancer the lie is likely him going to jail. Smith stealing the election is likely the event which truly kicks off the civil war.
As for the number of sides, I expect 4 notable factions. Smith Loyalists, Long Loyalists (though more loyal to the idea than the dead man walking), radical republicans (namely The Society for the Defense of Liberty), and more moderate Republicans like Nixon and Reagan (I can't believe I'm saying this but I hope to god they win the thing). Minor factions will include Communists, Socialists, Fascists, Black Panthers, and Integralists.

I mean was it not implied that Klara would gain the support of the people and that Remer would lose influence? Considering what they already went across I doubt anyone wants another internal conflict with power just going to Klara in a more peaceful way at least when compared to before.
The author also implied that Remer wasn't going to go quietly, so more strife is coming.
The Integralists? But come to think of it yeah it hink i get why this world is unstable af (granted last part is called Days of Strife for a reason)

If thats the case, the best case scenario for the united states is for the second us civil war to become 'the second american revolution' where anti-populists, and even left wing populists, united against smith, and over throw him as an illegitamate president, before reaffirming americas liberal democracy, by adding new amendments and laws to curtail and prevent another smith or long from taking over
then, having discovered the Nazis tried to over throw American democracy america takes a more pro-active role, in undermining them
Any turmoil will only weaken the United States. If you want change and reconstruction of America, let it happen through democratic elections and a long-term process of change. Revolution, coups d'état or dictatorship have the nice advantage of being able to blow up the old law and write a new one without any consequences or the need to work on the old one.
The best solution for the United States would be to centralize the state and use medical, social and educational structures to build a modern society.

I would say a single six-year term for the Presidency would be a good idea, for starters, especially as it was actually proposed in the 1910s.
