Flashman in the attack on Ethiopia. Funny, interesting, etc. He makes a point that slavery was eradicated by a bunch of underpaid, underoccupied, undermanaged, British soldiers and sailors who did it for the hell of it.
I enjoyed it too. An interesting insight into one of the more overlooked corners of the 19th Century world. Also a good recovery from the somewhat insipid Flashman and the Tiger. That book sort of felt like Fraser put a bunch of novel summaries into an envelope and sent 'em off to be published as a collection of novellas.
Now all of us just have to hope he doesn't drop dead before he finishes writing about Flashman's service in the American Civil War (General in the Army of the Confederacy and Staff Colonel in the Union Army). He's been giving us tantalising hints for ages and ages.
