Novel by Tom Bradby, sort of historical novel rather than alternate history but like all historical novels it has to alter reality in order to find a place for its characters and plot to fit in.
I found it very interesting, set in Petrograd on the eve of the first Russian Revolution. Very detailed, but sometimes I wondered whether the details were correct - but not that I would know !
The picture of the Tsar's court at Tsarskoe Selo was very well done - I assume most of the details are realistic, i.e. I hadn't realised that Anastasia had had measles and had her head shaved in early 1917 !
Anyone else read it, got any comments ?
