  1. Labour wins 1983 election in U.K., goes forward with nuclear disarmament... Then what?

I'm not familiar with German politics. Do you mean that Germany wouldn't have reunified (shocking, but maybe just because my post-unification, U.S.-raised mind has an oversimplified understanding of German attitudes toward reunification), or that the character of that unification would have been...
  2. Labour wins 1983 election in U.K., goes forward with nuclear disarmament... Then what?

During the 1983 election, Labour proposed unilateral nuclear disarmament and withdrawal from the EEC. What might the consequences have been if this went through? If it takes some finagling in the 1970s or Thatcher's first term, or some modification of other parts of Labour's platform, in order...
  3. A Blank Map Thread

A few months ago I commissioned a map of Earth during the Jurassic Period. I'm not sure how high the quality is going to be on these when they're posted (the site was originally saying that the images were too large), so if you want to use these and run into problems then LMK and I'll email...
  4. The Long National Nightmare.

Oh geeze, that’s got to be annoying. I checked out one of his other threads and it seems that relentlessly PMing people was 49’s modus operandi. Eek.
  5. The Long National Nightmare.

Comments like this are often not very helpful for a writer or other creator, and can actually be stressful and guilt-inducing. Unless OP says otherwise, it’d probably be kindest to just wait patiently.
  6. 'Red' Indonesia - Australian military procurement options?

Where could I read up on the thought process behind this policy? Did it have to do with the unfeasibility of adjusting the carrier’s movements, with “politics” over how amazing the carriers must be and how they can’t be permitted to look like the source of any problems, or something else?
  7. How would a United Earth Government form?

I’m not sure how plausible this is, but it depends a lot on the meaning of “United” and “Government.” Does the UEG need to be a strongly centralized/unitary government or can it be akin to a worldwide European Union or a United Nations with teeth?
  8. Sheba's Sons - Haile Selassie goes to Tokyo

What are the specifics on inheritance in this case? Can the two lines just marry into each other in order to solve any troubles like this?
  9. Die Atombomben der Bundesrepublik: An Oral History of Germany's Nuclear Weapons Program

It’s a very justified cliche, though. If there are crazy secrets, then there’s going to be a “revealing this to the new head of government” moment. Truman didn’t know much, if anything, about the atomic bomb until after FDR died.
  10. Russian Warlords Era?

Yeah, I know, I’m just spitballing based on the map. There was also a socialist Transcaucasian Federation for a time, if you don’t mind booting Denikin. The thing I like the most about the map is that there are multiple socialist/communist “warlords” too. I think the ideal scenario (for my...
  11. Russian Warlords Era?

My first thought is that if you had a Muscovy SR, and Denikin has been pushed out of Ukraine (both going off that map) then there’s probably a Free Territory of Ukraine, in whom Muscovy will probably find a better friend than Lenin.
  12. The Pokemon franchise in a socialist Japan

Assuming that nothing is done within Japan that hinders the Pokémon franchise (ie Game Freak is dissolved for one reason or another), then I expect Pokémon’s worldwide popularity to not be affected that much. Kids want a game with cute monsters in them and aren’t going to care enough about...
  13. No WW1 or equivalent war for the 20th century. (W.I)

Early in 1914, Pyotr Durnovo advised Nicholas II to distance Russia from the U.K. and build an alignment with both France and Germany. If the Great War is avoided, and a Leftward-turning France is willing to move closer to Germany, then perhaps just such a “Continental Bloc” could be formed...
  14. Monarcho-Communist Japan (How do we get there, and what does it look like?)

"MonBol" is a great term, even if they aren't quite Bolsheviks. Definitely rolls off the tongue more easily than "Monarcho-Communist." Assuming that Japan can successfully divide China, I think that the country will be in a very good position come the year 1940, but there are probably harder...
  15. Monarcho-Communist Japan (How do we get there, and what does it look like?)

Jumping between AH.com threads and other sources, I still haven't found anything to suggest that 1930s Siberia had abundant, accessible, and (most importantly) known resources, so a standard Hokushin-ron is just going to be, as Hagre said, a clusterfuck--and one that doesn't even pay well, at...
